Jakob is BGR's manager of the Extractives and Development program. He coordinates an interdisciplinary team that works with him towards the realization of the Agenda 2030. Further Jakob is engaged in the policy advice component of the sector programme. His job is to enable government officials and holders of political office to make informed decisions. This involves the permanent monitoring and analysis of trends regarding international natural resource policies and economics.

Teresa Bornschlegl

Teresa holds an MSc in Human Ecology from Lund University (Sweden) and a Ph.D. in Geography from Clark University (USA). Her research interests focus on the question of how to improve the enforcement of environmental laws in the extractive sector in Latin America. At the sector programme, Teresa is part of the team of policy advisers, with an emphasis on matters regarding environmental laws and indigenous rights in the mining sector.

Nataly works as policy advisor in the sector programme. She supports the work of the BMZ by preparing short analyses and the observation and participation of policy processes in the extractive sector. In her research, she focuses on the governance of natural resources.

Nils is working in the conceptual development of the sector program Extractives and Development in the areas of economic diversification of resource-rich economies with regards to the Agenda 2030. Contextual focus herein is the promotion of local value addition (local content), the economic development of mining regions and the collaboration of local and international actors in the form of joint ventures.

Thomas is working in the sector programme on local and national value addition in the extractives sector and on economic diversification of resource-rich countries. He is responsible for the LION tool, which tries to enhance the local content in developing countries. Furthermore, he engages in the development of concepts and consulting approaches to strengthen the local economy and to reduce economic dependency on extractives in partner countries of the global south.

Hannah focus on value addition in the sector of mineral resources. A special focus is set on building materials, which are a subgroup of the so-called Development Minerals. She works on contributions to support the local development of the low value resources to strengthen the economy and the infrastructure in our partner countries actively. This includes the set-up and support of fair and sustainable value chains.

Fabian has been working at the BGR since the end of 2015 and is deals with responsible mineral supply chain management. He is specialized in the gold industry and the artisanal and small-scale mining sector. This includes the implementation of innovative pilot schemes. Fabian also works in the policy advice component of the sector program and supports the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in their decision making process.

Nils works on new concepts and pilot measures related to energy resources and climate. Among these are the usage of natural gas as a bridging technology and the mitigation of environmental risks from cuttings. Moreover, he coordinates and designs small-scale measures including capacity development in the Somalian government authorities supervising the national petroleum sector. At the sector programme, Nils further supports the policy advice component.


Johanna Beate Wysluch

Johanna is GIZ`s manager of the Extractives & Development program. She ensures that processes and organisation in her team run smoothly, and safeguards the professional and technical quality of the results. Her task is to assist BMZ in advancing the development of German development cooperation approaches in the extractive sector against the background of new requirements under the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Johanna is a lawyer and trained mediator and previously headed the German EITI-Secretariat in Berlin, as well as an anti-corruption project of the BMZ in Indonesia.

Janne joined the team at the beginning of 2016 after working four years in the extractive sector in West Africa. The main areas of her work are local content, organizational development and digitization.

Johannes Lohmeyer

Johannes mainly deals with the topics EITI and Good Financial Governance in the natural resource sector. Before joining the SP he supported the German Chancellor's Personal Representative for Africa in the BMZ in the development of the CONNEX Initiative that counteracts imbalances in the relationship between partner countries and investors when negotiating resource contracts. In addition, Johannes worked as a consultant on topics related to resource governance for international clients.

Lisa Stellner

Lisa is responsible for the internal and external communication of the sectoral program. In addition to strategic communication, she is the contact person for the cross-cutting theme of gender in the extractive sector. Moreover, she works on the topics raw materials and climate / energy / environment.

Christina Ankenbrand

Christina primarily deals with the topics responsible mineral supply chain management and mining in conflict-affected and high-risk areas. Within these topics, she focuses more specifically on conflict minerals, resource conflicts and human rights in mining. Before joining the sectoral program, Christina worked at the Peace Academy Rhineland-Palatinate (University of Koblenz-Landau) in the research area environmental and resource conflicts.

Sophie works mainly on the topics Good Financial Governance in the extractive sector and EITI implementation. Within the project, she is responsible for monitoring and evaluation as well as impact communication. Before joining the sectoral program, she assisted the national EITI-Secretariat of Mauritania on implementation issues.

Janet is responsible for the financial project control. Her job is to support the team in commercial, administrative and financial matters. Among other things this includes drawing up and managing contracts, but also financial management. In addition, she is the contact person for organisational issues and deals with office management within the team.

Christina Domingos

Christina is responsible for the office management and organizational issues within the team. She is also the team's sustainability officer. Before joining the sector program, Christina lived and worked in Kinshasa for six years.
