The IGF is a voluntary initiative with more than 75 member states committed to using mining for sustainable development, limiting its negative impacts and sharing profits equitably.

In order for resource extraction to contribute to sustainable development in the long term, there is a need for exchange and cooperation between resource-producing countries and the mining industry. The OECD Policy Dialogue provides a platform that enables this exchange between countries, industry, NGOs and think tanks.
