The Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR (External link)) invites the gold industry, civil society, academia and development cooperation to the event series “Responsible Gold”. The 8th workshop of the series takes place on November 8, 2022 from 1-4 pm and focuses on the topic of “Certifications and Standards in the Gold Sector”. The workshop will take place virtually and will be held in German.

The upcoming workshop deals with certification systems and standards in the gold sector. The first part of the workshop features two presentations. The Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR (External link)) will provide an overview of existing certification systems along the gold supply chain and the Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM (External link)) will present the assurance label Fairmined. In the second part of the workshop, goldsmiths and gold traders will discuss the advantages and challenges they face working with certified gold.

Since 2018, the Sector Programme “Extractives and Development” of the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR (External link)) has organised the workshop series on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ (External link)). The workshops facilitate the exchange of information and experiences between business, civil society, academia and development cooperation on the topic of responsible gold production and sourcing.

Registration for the workshop closes on November 2, 2022.
