02.05.2023 Workshop “Illicit Gold Flows”

The Sector Programme “Extractives and Development” of the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR (External link)) invites the gold industry, civil society, academia and development cooperation to a workshop on the topic of “Illicit Gold Flows” as part of the event series “Responsible Gold”. The workshop takes place on May 9, 2023 from 1-4 pm in German.

The Sector Programme “Extractives and Development” of the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR (External link)) invites the gold industry, civil society, academia and development cooperation to a workshop on the topic of “Illicit Gold Flows” as part of the event series “Responsible Gold”. The workshop takes place on May 9, 2023 from 1-4 pm. The workshop will take place virtually and will be held in German.

The upcoming workshop deals with gold flows from Africa and the Amazon basin. The workshop features presentations from the Society for Threatened People Switzerland, Swissaid and World Gold Council. Furthermore, EPIZ Berlin e.V. will present teaching materials on the topic of gold from small-scale mining that they are developing for vocational schools.

Since 2018, the Sector Programme “Extractives and Development” of the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) has been organising the workshop series on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ (External link)). The workshops facilitate the exchange of information and experiences between business, civil society, academia and development cooperation on the topic of responsible gold production and sourcing.

Registration for the workshop closes on May 2, 2023.
