Responsible supply chains EU Conflict Minerals Regulation - virtual event January 13-14, 2021
We hope you will join us for a virtual event, The EU Conflict Minerals Regulation: Perspectives From Producer Countries, hosted by the RBA's Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), January 13-14, 2021.
On the occasion of the entry into force of the EU Conflict Minerals Regulation (EU CMR) on January 1st 2021, a milestone event in responsible mineral sourcing, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) are convening a multi-stakeholder conference to take stock of the implementation and impact of the EU Conflict Minerals Regulation, in particular through the lens of producer countries. This conference will feature interactive discussions in an inclusive multi-stakeholder spirit, engaging a global audience of public, non-profit and private sector participants, and explore the past and the anticipated impact of the long-awaited EU CMR on global stakeholders particularly through the lens of producer countries. Key topics include:
- Impact on upstream actors
- Governance and government oversight
- Artisanal mining
- Illicit trade
- Role of downstream actors, policymakers, and other stakeholders
- Challenges and opportunities for action ahead
