COP23 Side Event Climate Change – Extractive Industries – Resource Efficiency @COP23

Invitation to the specialist event:

“Climate Change – Extractive Industries – Resource Efficiency @COP23”

On behalf of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, GIZ cordially invites you to the event “Climate Change – Extractive Industries – Resource Efficiency @COP23”. The event will be held on Wednesday, November 8th 2017from8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., on the occasion of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP23) in Bonn, Germany.

The aim of the side event is to initiate an in-depth debate about the role of extractives industries and the potential of resource efficiency in combating climate change. Different panel sessions will cover the following topics:

  • The Growing Role of Minerals and Metals for a Low-Carbon Future
  • Stranded Assets and their Impact on Resource Governance
  • Resource Efficiency Potentials for Mitigating Climate Change

Please note that this event will take place at the premises of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Friedrich-Ebert-Allee 36, 53113 Bonn. UNFCCC accreditation is not required for participation.
